Why your branding matters
The word brand or branding is constantly being quoted and mentioned on social media platforms “your brand this” or “you need to focus more on your branding” etc, but what does it actually mean for you and your business?

Here's why branding is so important
Branding is the process of creating a distinct identity for a business, product, or person so that people recognise it, remember it, and feel a certain way about it.
It’s not just a logo or a name, it’s the overall impression you leave.
In very simple terms:
Branding = how people perceive you
It includes things like:
Visual identity: logo, colours, fonts, design style
Voice and tone: how you communicate (formal, friendly, bold, etc.)
Values and message: what you stand for
Customer experience: how people feel when they interact with you.
Think of a company such as Apple or Nike:
Apple: clean, innovative, premium feel
Nike: motivation, performance, “Just Do It” mindset
Even without seeing their products, you already have an idea of what they represent, that’s their branding working. Now you don’t have to be Apple or Nike for your branding to work like this. However, you can see how important a logo, colour or font can play in how people perceive your business. A hastily put together logo that you found online together with a cheap font may say more about you than you would like.
It’s like anything in business, if you invest time in developing your business’ brand then it will reap dividends further down the line.
Why branding matters:
It helps you stand out from competitors.
It builds trust and recognition.
It creates emotional connections with customers.
So not just a logo then. Brand is much more than your visual identity. It is why a customer chooses you over a rival or competitor.
As American businessman, Steve Forbes points out “Your brand is the single most important investment you can make in your business”.
